Maths

Working hard on our counting skills. Amazing work everyone

Syllables

Edinburgh class have learnt what a syllable is, in preparation to creating our own poem. They enjoyed using instruments and body percussion to count how many syllables are in words. They completed jigsaw puzzles of our favourite fruits to see how the word is broken down, to identify the syllables. Amazing Work

Northern Lights

Children have loved painting the Northern Lights, otherwise known as Aurora. They have used a variety of painting tools including brushes, rollers and stencils. Their artwork looks amazing, curved lines to represent the movement of the colourful lights dancing in the sky. Well done

Labelling the Polar Regions

Rio was able to locate and label the Polar Regions, using the words Northern  and Southern Hemisphere. Amazing

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to the new Edinburgh Class! We are thrilled to have the opportunity to embark on an exciting educational journey together.  We are excited to be working with you all this year, and we are committed to making this year an engaging, enriching, and memorable learning experience for each and every one of you. In our classroom, we will not only focus on academic growth but also on personal development, creativity, and building a sense of community.

Starting a new class is an adventure filled with new friends, knowledge, and experiences. Our dedicated team of teachers and staff are here to support you every step of the way. We believe in creating a warm and inclusive environment where every child can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Our Maths topic is shapes, exploring and comparing their properties and shape and number patterns. We will work on our number skills working on addition and subtraction.  In Science we will investigate giant icebergs, planning and conducting experiments with ice. We will explore how Polar animals adapt to their environments and explore their food chains finding out what each animal eats to survive in their environment.

In humanities we will explore and create maps and globes and locate the Polar regions. We will find the equator on a globe and how this affects the temperature. We will investigate the climate, physical features and animals within these regions making a direct comparison.

In Art and Design children will explore photography, using cameras, tablets and laptops to create their own art, focusing on Frozen Kingdom polar regions. Children will have the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills creating ice paintings, panoramic scenes, snow and ice sculptures and some creative pictures of the Northern lights.

In Computing we will be learning about recording sound and pictures. We will investigate sounds around us and learn how to record these on our computers. Linking to our Art and Design topic we will learn how to take photographs, exploring camera angles, lighting and effects. Our end project will be linking sounds and pictures to retell a familiar story.

We can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you and watch you all grow, learn, and achieve great things. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or need assistance. Together, we will make this school year a memorable and enriching one.

Once again, welcome to the Edinburgh Class! Let’s embark on this wonderful journey of learning and discovery together. Let’s make this a fantastic term filled with growth, friendship, and fun!

Best Wishes,

The Edinburgh Team
