Eureka!

This week, we visited Eureka Museum where the children took part in various role play activities, related to our PSHE topic – jobs and skills. We all had lots of fun!

All fall down

We used props to tell the story of Sir Issac Newton and the apple, and how this led to his discovery of gravity.

Half Time!

This week, we looked at halving objects using different food items. We learnt that half means two equal pieces.

Solar system

This week the children have been creating art work about the Solar System along with learning the names of the planets and the order of the planets from the Sun.

Self Portraits

Children practiced drawing themselves, drawing from top to bottom, left to right and also circles. Look at these masterpieces

Welcome back to another year, and another change! Fatima, Jemma, Lisa and Arantxa have all joined Edinburgh Class and are really excited to get to know everyone!

Our topic this term is ‘Stargazers’ and we’re all looking forward to learning about the different planets in Space! We will write our own mnemonics to remember the order of the planets…

“My Very Excited Mother Just Served Us Nachos!”

Also in English lessons, we will read an exciting book about a little boy’s adventures through space called ‘Space Ace’, and use this to help us write our own newspaper reports about visiting space!

We will design our own aliens and, after reading a fun extract of an alien description from ‘Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator’, will describe our own aliens!

We are looking forward to being creative, making moonscapes with different fabrics and stitching. We will also create paintings of the phases of the moon… and use Oreos to show the same thing, by eating different amounts of cream, which sounds like lots of fun!

In Maths, there will be a lot of focus on our basic skills, which will help us throughout our lives, particularly number recognition, addition and subtraction. We will also look at 2D and 3D shapes.

In addition to this, daily task series programmes will continue, and we are looking forward to working alongside some of the children from other classes this year.

Everyone in Edinburgh Class is ready and excited for this new term and new school year.

Please do get in touch with us, if you have any questions!
