Multicultural Week So Far

What a fantastic start we’ve had to our whole school Multicultural Week! Chatsworth’s focus country is Egypt and we have already learnt a lot about this fascinating country. We enjoyed a sensory story, made some pyramid silhouette artwork and practised building our own pyramid structures!

Planting Seeds!

We went to the supermarket, chose some seeds and really enjoyed planting them back at school. We have been making sure to water them each day!

Fruit Salad Anyone?

We are working hard to develop our knowledge of how to prepare simple snacks and drinks. We really enjoyed chopping various fruits to create a delicious fruit salad! We also used this activity as an opportunity to promote good hygiene habits, such as washing hands before preparing food.

Food and the Outdoors

Our topic for this term is called: ‘The Body and Food’. We have been learning about where food comes from and took this opportunity to go out into the natural environment. We explored soil, smelt herbs and even observed a honeybee on a dandelion!

Money Money Money!

In Maths this term, we are focusing on money and have had lots of fun exploring coins and notes in sensory trays. We especially liked searching for hidden coins and using jumbo tweezers to retrieve them.

RE Day

Today we have had RE Day. This time, we focused on Christianity and The Easter Story. In our sensory story, we learnt all about the origins of Easter and why Christians celebrate it. We also had a great afternoon on our Easter Egg Hunt!

Class Visit to Magna

We had the best time at Magna! We were busy exploring everything water-related as part of our current topic. We also got to experience the Fire, Earth and Air areas of the centre. Lots of smiles and laughter!

Another Sensory Story!

This week, we have been learning about how water can change between states and have focused particularly on frozen water by exploring ice and snow. We experienced a sensory story called ‘Sheldon Snail’s Snowman’ and enjoyed investigating different objects such as ice, artificial grass and even cocoa powder!
