Today we walked to a local community centre where there was an amazing Wonderdome! We loved going inside the dome and experiencing all of the lights and sounds.
As part of our Light and Sound topic, we have a new Music and Touch Communication session, where we have been using our communication devices to express our likes and dislikes regarding different light stimuli.
In line with our Light and Sound topic, our RE learning this half term has focused on the Hindu Festival of Light: Diwali. We enjoyed a sensory story, created Rangoli patterns with paint, listened to the sounds of Diwali, and even made diyas out of clay. Happy half term!
We have been reading a fabulous sensory story called ‘Webster Witch’s Wacky Weather’, which explores some elements of light and dark. We are enjoying experiencing different visuals, textures and sounds, and are working on expressing our own responses to each object.
As part of our PSHE work on positivity, we have been learning about different emotions such as happy, sad and angry. We pressed switches to listen to sounds associated with each emotion and practised portraying these emotions in our mirrors.
Our new focus in PSHE is all about positive thinking, and we’ve been exploring ways in which we can improve our mood and mental wellbeing. Today we decided to get out into nature and experience all the signs of Autumn – the photos show how much we loved this!
We had lots of fun with Rosie from Sheffield Music Hub who visited to deliver our first multisensory music session. We enjoyed exploring a range of different instruments and pieces of equipment. We already can’t wait for next week!
Here in Chatsworth we have a new and improved sensory space, we love using the sensory lights as part of our new topic ‘Light and Sound’.
In true Paces style we finished the school year off with a beach themed music festival. We loved seeing the donkeys, engaging in water play, and listening and dancing to lots of different music as Chatsworth loves to party!
