Balmoral have created the most amazing mountains out of clay, manipulating with both hands and using tools to create different textures and effects. We can’t wait till they dry ready to glaze, paint and add detail.
How many Durham children did it take to pull the turnip out of the ground? All of us! We pulled and pulled and pulled!
Some of the Balmoral children visited the local supermarket to practice our money skills. We have been learning to use the correct coins to pay for our shopping and also the change we should receive . We bought some amazing snacks!
Today we have enjoyed our new MTC session: ‘A Journey Through the Rainforest’. We explored different objects such as fans, feathers and sponges, and tried really hard to express whether we liked or disliked each object.
After recapping the water cycle, we watched a kettle boil and talked about what we could see. We discussed that the steam is like a cloud and then watched what happened when the steam cooled on the mirror. We explored the mirror, realising it was wet with water and compared this to rain.
Hardwicks Star of the Week this week is Abdul. For walking with a ladderback with support from the front Well done Abdul π
Balmoral have created amazing shaped poems using a range of poetic features. Amazing work!
We had great fun learning about belaying and rope skills for climbing. We learnt to tie knots and also how to coordinate ourΒ movements to support the climber we are working with. We discussed some of the safety procedures when climbing, and the importance of the ropes.
We are loving our new topic. We have taken part exploring different ways and techniques to over come obstacles. Balmoral have taken part in climbing ladders, walking inclines and declines and climbing over larger pieces of equipment. We definitely burnt off some energy π
